Indoor Herb Garden
April 25, 2010

I have moved about 8 times since my very first apartment in Tokyo in 1997 and in most cases, I have been lucky enough to have at least a small outdoor space to set up an herb garden. In some cases, I had a huge yard. On the other hand, in my San Francisco studio apartment, I did not really have a balcony but there was a fire escape and I built a small herb garden there.
Now my husband and I bought a condo in Washington, DC and this is the first time I live in a place without any outdoor area whatsoever. But I can't live without my herb garden so I have found a way to make it work indoors this time.
I shuffled many things to create the herb corner next to our open kitchen and planted 8 different herbs in a small pots this month. An herb garden is a necessity for my cooking but it also adds wonderful color to our whole house. They have been growing like crazy so far. This little indoor herb garden has been a quick success and a wonderful addition to our home.
