- 1/2 lb lean ground beef
- 1/3 cup diced carrots
- 1/3 cup diced celery
- 1/3 cup diced red bell pepper
- 1/3 cup chopped cooked spinach
- 1 tbsp tomato paste
- Pasta of your choice ..... cook softer than usual and cut into small pieces if you use long pasta.
- omega 3 oil ..... optional
Cooking Directions
-
Heat nonstick pan in medium heat and cook ground beef until no longer pink.
-
Add all vegetables and cook until soft for 3 minutes.
-
Add tomato paste and mix well until they are incorporated. Remove from heat and cool.
-
In a serving bowl, place cooked pasta of your choice and top with bolognese sauce.
-
Drizzle some omega 3 oil (optional).
Note
*The ratio of the meat, vegetables and starch depends on the dog's needs but the basic rule is 40% meat, 30% vegetables and 30% starch.
Also, you should use at least three different vegetables. It is also a good idea to add a supplement like brewer's yeast or kelp depending on your dog's needs.
I often combine a little dry dog food with my homemade batch so as not to shock my dog. Please consult your vet before you introduce homemade dog food for the first time.
