New Year, New Green : Sweet Potato Leaves (2)
January 16, 2012
It has been 10 days since I attempted to make sweet potato slips. I wish I have something positive to report but the result was... let's say... not pretty: two disgusting and smelly rotten sweet potatoes!

Over the last 10 days, I changed the water everyday but I could not prevent them from spoiling. I am not sure the cause ... According to the guide I followed, the potatoes need to be in a hot place so the temperature was certainly not a factor considering I am living in the tropics.
Next time, I am going to try to use a whole potato instead of cutting them in half and I will let the potato develop sprouts in a dark, cool place before I put it in the water.
I went to the store to get a few new potatoes but the store did not have any healthy potatoes. Maybe the issue was the quality of potato (considering in the tropics all our potatoes are shipped in containers). The potatoes in the store were all spoiled so it probably means the ones that I got 10 days ago were already old and not good condition in the first place.
To be continued...
